Summertime in Ocean City, New Jersey is an ideal time for lounging on the beach and playing in the ocean. For the times when your sunscreen application may have gone awry or when you simply want to enjoy some activities in an indoor setting, take a break from the beach and visit the following five spots:
Peace of Wood, located at 1112 Asbury Avenue, will draw you in as soon as you see the welcoming storefront. Colorful wooden signs adorn the front and, upon entering, you’ll be greeted by its friendly owners, ready to help you find exactly what you need in the way of artwork, hand-painted surfboards, skateboards and accessories and more. The relaxed vibe of the shop will turn any first-time visitor into a repeat customer. In addition to selling art, surf and skate items, Peace of Wood hosts a variety of classes and art-laden activities, such as their popular daily Kid’s Paint Jams, where young artists of all levels can express themselves by creating artwork on reclaimed wood pieces. This summer, Peace of Wood will also be offering a Kid’s Art and Good Vibes Weeklong Workshop, July 9–13 from 9–11:30 a.m. each day, where kids will be able to express their creativity and gather art inspiration along the way.
Kids and adults alike will find plenty to keep them occupied and in air conditioned-comfort at PLAAY Fitness and Yoga, located at 910 Asbury Avenue. Each day promises a number of fun and active classes to take part in. Some of the class options include aerial yoga, adult boot camp, open gym offerings and so much more. Plus, the rock climbing wall is available during open climbing sessions each day. The classes and rock climbing sessions are reasonably priced and you can view your options via the PLAAY website.
