Let’s face it. Every day can’t always be sunny and warm in Ocean City, as much as we may want it to be. But, on the bright side, there are plenty of rainy day activities available in Ocean City to keep the whole family entertained.
Peace of Wood Paint Jams
As mentioned in a prior article on OCNJ Happenings, Peace of Wood, located at 1112 Asbury Avenue, is a great spot to visit for activities when you are unable to be on the beach during the day (or basically anytime at all!). The shop hosts Paint Jams, where kids and adults can express their creativity and paint on pieces of reclaimed wood, creating works of art of a wide variety. Paint jams must be scheduled in advance and can be done online. Owners/husband-and-wife team Marshall and Kristina Young will welcome you in and provide a spot for your creativity to shine!
Grab Some Games from Hoy’s 5 & 10
If your family is interested in staying inside on bad weather days, purchase some games from Hoy’s 5 & 10 and have a game day at the shore. Hoy’s 5 & 10, at both the 732 Asbury Avenue and 34th Street and West Avenue locations, offers plenty of fun games of varying skill and age levels, along with puzzles, cards and toys. Purchase a few of these items at Hoy’s 5 & 10, grab some snacks and let the indoor game festivities begin!
Video Game Play at JiLLy’s Arcade
Just because the rain is coming down, doesn’t mean that the boardwalk is closed. Throw on a raincoat, grab your umbrella and head to JiLLy’s Arcade, located at 1168 Boardwalk, for pinball, skeeball, video games and more. And, the fun doesn’t have a time limit at JiLLY’s, as the arcade is now open 24 hours a day!
Visit the Ocean City Library for a Good Book and Movie Rental
The Ocean City Free Public Library at 1735 Simpson Avenue is an excellent spot to visit for a good reading session and place to obtain a movie rental to take home with you. Whether you plan to spend a few hours relaxing at the library, perusing the book and magazine options, or are just popping in to check out a DVD to watch at home, the Ocean City Library is a great rainy day option.
Indoor Miniature Golf Fun at Haunted Golf
Although miniature golf is often an outdoor activity and not suitable for rainy days, this is not the case when it comes to Haunted Golf at 824 Boardwalk. The 5,000-square-foot mini-golf course is all indoors and air conditioned. The theme is a fun, spooky one, yet not too scary for the kids. It’s a great option for those who want to head to the boardwalk for rainy day fun, but not get soaked while doing so.
