The end of summer is a concept which many individuals don’t like to think about. On the bright side, there are still a few weeks left to take advantage of the warm weather and embrace all that Ocean City offers in the summertime.
The following list suggests six things to do in Ocean City before the summer comes to a close, which will make the changing of the seasons bearable after all.
Renting a kayak from one of the many wonderful kayak rental spots in Ocean City provides a great way to get around and see the sights of OC from the water. For those craving a bit of nature, the nature tour with Baycats is an ideal option. If you’d like to explore the waterways on your own, other kayak rental spots to try include DAKS Kayaks and Harbor Outfitters.
Many restaurants throughout Ocean City offer alfresco dining options. From the boardwalk to the downtown streets, you’ll find plenty of patio perches to be seated upon and enjoy your meal. Some of the spots where alfresco dining is available include Clancy’s By The Sea, Café Beach Club, The Chatterbox, Island Grill, Ocean City Café and Jon and Patty’s, to name a few.
Music Pier Shows
The Music Pier show calendar has been filled with tons of great events this summer. But, if you haven’t been to a show yet this season, or are craving another one, there are still more options on the calendar. Some of the upcoming shows include multiple Ocean City POPS performances and the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company Junior performance of “Singin’ in the Rain.” Ticket information is available online.
Rent a Surrey Cart for a Morning Boardwalk Ride
The boardwalk is the perfect spot for a morning bike ride. Take advantage of the warmer weather and rent a bike or surrey cart for a morning ride along the boards as you take in the sights and sounds of the ocean and feel the ocean breeze. Locations where you’ll be able to rent bikes and surrey carts include Bob’s Bikes and Surrey Rentals, 13th Street Bike Rental, Ocean City Bicycle Center and Oves Bike and Surrey Rentals, to name some options.
Funtastic Tuesdays and Market Days on Asbury Avenue
Funtastic Tuesdays every week on Tuesdays and Market Days every Thursday during the summer turn Asbury Avenue into a fun and exciting time for all. Both events will unfold for two more weeks before the summer season ends, which means you still have time to enjoy plentiful family-friendly entertainment along Asbury Avenue from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. on both days.
Ocean City Farmers Market
The Ocean City Farmers Market is also a seasonal event, which means that there are only a few more Farmers Market days left in the season. Be sure to head down to the Tabernacle grounds at 5th Street and Asbury Avenue every Wednesday from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. for farm-fresh produce, extraordinary culinary vendor items and creative artisan vendor products. The last Ocean City Farmers Market will take place on Wednesday, September 5.
And, remember, the fun doesn’t end in Ocean City once Labor Day rolls around. Ocean City, New Jersey offers exciting, family-friendly events year-round, which seem to get bigger and better every year!
