On Sunday, October 14, from 1–4 p.m., the Ocean City Music Pier will be filled with chili and chowder lovers, sampling sensational culinary offerings from local restaurants. As if the aforementioned information isn’t already enough to pique your interest and have you purchasing tickets right away, the following offers five great reasons to attend the 2018 Chili Chowder Festival on October 14!
Chili Concoctions of a Wide Variety
Chili offerings will line the tables set up throughout the Music Pier, featuring an eclectic array of culinary items. Restaurants will offer up their own take on chili and festival attendees may find the spicy among the more tame variety and the veggie-filled next to the meat-laden choices. After attending this festival, you’re certain to know that no two chili concoctions are exactly alike!
Chowder Selections Which Are the Ideal Comfort Food Options
If chili isn’t your thing, or you’re interested in sampling something else alongside the flavorful chili options, chowder selections will also be yours for the taking at this year’s Chili Chowder Fest. Seafood chowder, corn chowder and clam chowder are a few of the possible dishes you may see at this year’s festival (although the exact culinary lineup may be kept a secret until the big day!).
Chili Offerings Prepared by (and Competition Between) Ocean City Firefighters
In addition to chili samplings being offered by local restaurants, the Ocean City Fire Department is once again getting in on the cooking action with their 2nd Annual OCFD Chili Cook-Off. The three firehouses will be battling for first place (and bragging rights) with regard to who has the best chili creation. Guests will select their favorite chili and choose the winner of the competition.
Proceeds Benefit the Ocean City Firefighters Foundation
A day of sampling chili and chowder is a wonderful event, in and of itself. Add in the fact that the proceeds raised from the event will benefit the Ocean City Firefighters Foundation, and the day is even better! The Foundation helps local organizations and the community in a number of ways, thanks to the many fundraising events held by the Ocean City Fire Department throughout the year.
Show Support for the Ocean City Restaurant Association and Its Members
Last, but certainly not least, this annual event presented by the Ocean City Restaurant Association, and sponsored by Ocean City Magazine, is a way to showcase its members and the delicious culinary offerings which they make available to Ocean City residents and visitors throughout the year.
Tickets are now available for $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Your admission ticket will gain you access into the event, unlimited chili and chowder samplings and a bottle of water. Tickets can be purchased at Randazzo’s, Varsity Inn, all three fire stations (550 Asbury Avenue, 2901 West Avenue and 4518 West Avenue) and during the weekend at Johnny B. Goode Ice Cream Parlor. They will also be available at the venue on the day of the event.
Come out to the 2018 Chili Chowder Festival on October 14 and enjoy a day of chili and chowder sampling while supporting the Ocean City Firefighters Foundation and local restaurants all at the same time!
