Springtime has arrived and the event season in Ocean City is starting to unfold in full force. This weekend brings plenty of entertainment options for you to enjoy on the island and on the mainland as well. From strolling pups to a new brewery, you’re going to have your fill of fun and excitement in South Jersey.
Here’s what’s taking place this weekend:
- Somers Point Brewing Company is now open: The Somers Point Brewing Company had its grand opening yesterday, Thursday, April 11, and will be open throughout the weekend for you to try the newest brews to hit South Jersey.
- Somers Point April in Paris: Every year, Somers Point holds its April in Paris event throughout the city. This year’s event is now under way and runs through Sunday, April 14, with Parisian-themed dining, events, music, and more.
- Doo Dah Parade: Get ready for the basset hounds to parade down Asbury Avenue (more than 500 basset hounds!). The Doo Dah Parade will unfold on Saturday, April 13, at noon, running along Asbury Avenue, from 6th Street to 12th Street, and then heading up to the boardwalk to promenade back down to 6th Street. This is one of the kickoff events of the entertainment season in Ocean City and provides spectators with puppy-filled fun as basset hounds and their owners walk down Asbury Avenue, dressed in costumes, alongside marching bands, floats, and more. Special weekend guest, and host of the Mr. Mature America Pageant later that evening, Barbara Eden, will be the grand marshal.
- Mr. Mature America Pageant: Do you have your tickets yet for the Mr. Mature America Pageant on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m.? If not, don’t worry, as there are still some tickets left for this fun and entertaining event at the Music Pier. Gentlemen ages 55+ will compete against one another in a variety of categories, including interview, talent, poise and appearance, and an on-stage question. Barbara Eden will be the esteemed host of the evening. Grab your tickets today for this wonderful Ocean City event on Saturday night and see who gets crowned Mr. Mature America!
In addition to these aforementioned events on the calendar, more stores and restaurants will be opening their doors as the summer season quickly approaches, so be sure to check to see if your favorite seasonal shop or eatery is now open for business.
