Things to Know About the 2019 Walk for the Wounded Event in Ocean City

If you’ve heard about the upcoming Walk for the Wounded event in Ocean City, you may be wondering what this event consists of and how to be a part of it. OCNJ Happenings has all of the finer details for you and, best of all, it’s not too late to sign up!

Here are some things you should know about this year’s Walk for the Wounded event:

When is it?

This year’s Walk for the Wounded will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The walk kicks off at 10 a.m.

Where does the event take place?

The event will begin at the Ocean City Music Pier. After opening remarks and speeches, participating walkers will head down the boardwalk to 23rd Street and then walk back to the Music Pier.

Who does it benefit?

Proceeds raised from the annual Walk for the Wounded event will benefit Operation First Response. This nonprofit organization helps wounded soldiers and their family members by providing financial and emotional support. 98 cents of every dollar raised by this organization goes directly to those it serves.

What can you expect during this year’s Walk for the Wounded?

This year’s Walk for the Wounded, as with every year, promises a day filled with raising money and awareness for our injured heroes. Special guest speakers at this year’s event include Lieutenant Colonel Shoshannah B. Lane and Gold Star mother, Susan Price. Music will be provided throughout the event courtesy of The Big Zebowski.

How do you sign up?

Individuals interested in participating in the walk can register online. Those who raise $50 or more will receive a commemorative long-sleeve t-shirt on the day of the event.
