Easter Weekend Happenings in Ocean City

It’s Easter weekend and Ocean City is filled with residents and visitors alike, celebrating with their families and enjoying this special holiday weekend.

From dining offerings to kid’s activities, you’ll find plenty of options to fill your Easter weekend with fun. Here are some of the events and offerings taking place in Ocean City this weekend:

Easter Egg Hunt (April 20)

If the weather cooperates, bring your kids to the Ocean City beach today, Saturday, April 20, for the annual Easter egg hunt, which begins promptly at 2:30 p.m. The egg hunt will take place from 11th Street through 14th Street, with a different age group at each beach: 0-2 years and 3 years (11th Street); 4 and 5 years (12th Street); 6 and 7 years (13th Street); and, special needs children (14th Street). Easter Weekend Dining

Plenty of Ocean City establishments are opening their doors to the public for the season this weekend, if they haven’t done so already, and offering dining options for the crowds to enjoy. There may even be some spots where a visit with the Easter bunny will be taking place:

  • Yianni’s Cafe: Visit Yianni’s Cafe today, Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m.-noon, for Breakfast with the Bunny. Yianni’s is located at 841 Asbury Avenue.
  • Spoon and Sip: The Easter bunny will be hopping down to 838 Asbury Avenue later today (April 20) to Spoon and Sip for Frozen Yogurt with the Bunny from 2-4 p.m.
  • Varsity Inn: Enjoy Easter Sunday breakfast with the Easter bunny at 9 a.m. at the Varsity Inn.
  • Dockside Kitchen: Dockside Kitchen is now open for the season and serving brunch today from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Even better? Dockside Kitchen is offering a Washout Special today only (due to the rain) and offering 10% off of your dining check!
  • Mallon’s: Mallon’s Homemade Sticky Buns is open and will be serving up its sensational sticky buns and other sweet treats. Stop by this weekend from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and grab some delicious baked goods.

Easter Sunday Sunrise Service

Begin your Easter Sunday by taking part in the Sunrise Service, a non-denominational worship service to be held at the Ocean City Music Pier at 6:30 a.m. All are welcome to join in on this service by the sea.

Easter weekend means that many shops are now open for the season. Stroll around town and visit the various stores in the downtown area, on the boardwalk, and throughout the entire city. Here are some spots to visit this weekend:

  • Pumpkinbuds: Pumpkinbuds in Stainton’s at 810 Asbury Avenue will be offering 20% off of your purchase through April 21. The shop is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Not-to-be-Missed Events Taking Place This Weekend in Ocean City and on the Mainland

Springtime has arrived and the event season in Ocean City is starting to unfold in full force. This weekend brings plenty of entertainment options for you to enjoy on the island and on the mainland as well. From strolling pups to a new brewery, you’re going to have your fill of fun and excitement in South Jersey.

Here’s what’s taking place this weekend:

  • Somers Point Brewing Company is now open: The Somers Point Brewing Company had its grand opening yesterday, Thursday, April 11, and will be open throughout the weekend for you to try the newest brews to hit South Jersey.
  • Somers Point April in Paris: Every year, Somers Point holds its April in Paris event throughout the city. This year’s event is now under way and runs through Sunday, April 14, with Parisian-themed dining, events, music, and more.
  • Doo Dah Parade: Get ready for the basset hounds to parade down Asbury Avenue (more than 500 basset hounds!). The Doo Dah Parade will unfold on Saturday, April 13, at noon, running along Asbury Avenue, from 6th Street to 12th Street, and then heading up to the boardwalk to promenade back down to 6th Street. This is one of the kickoff events of the entertainment season in Ocean City and provides spectators with puppy-filled fun as basset hounds and their owners walk down Asbury Avenue, dressed in costumes, alongside marching bands, floats, and more. Special weekend guest, and host of the Mr. Mature America Pageant later that evening, Barbara Eden, will be the grand marshal.
  • Mr. Mature America Pageant: Do you have your tickets yet for the Mr. Mature America Pageant on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m.? If not, don’t worry, as there are still some tickets left for this fun and entertaining event at the Music Pier. Gentlemen ages 55+ will compete against one another in a variety of categories, including interview, talent, poise and appearance, and an on-stage question. Barbara Eden will be the esteemed host of the evening. Grab your tickets today for this wonderful Ocean City event on Saturday night and see who gets crowned Mr. Mature America!

Santucci’s is Headed to the Ocean City Boardwalk

If you’re familiar with Santucci’s Original Square Pizza in Philadelphia, you’re going to love this news: Santucci’s is headed to the Ocean City boardwalk!

Set to open up shop at 944 Boardwalk, Ocean City residents and visitors will soon have access to the signature square pizzas which Santucci’s offers. In addition to sensational pizza offerings, including their delicious sauce-on-top concoctions, the Santucci’s team will be serving stromboli and flatbread items, plus much more!

Get ready for a new dining option when Santucci’s Original Square Pizza opens this summer on the Ocean City boardwalk.

Coming Soon to Ocean City: The Soup Bar

As we sadly say goodbye to some area restaurants, try not to be too upset, as we’ll be welcoming in some new dining options as well. The latest information to come in regarding new dining offerings relates to The Soup Bar, set to open at 34th Street and West Avenue in the coming months.

The Soup Bar will be conveniently located in the space next to Hoy’s 5 & 10 at 34th Street. Although new to a brick-and-mortar spot, The Soup Bar is not entirely new. Executive chef Eddie McGaurn has been offering delectable soup creations on a delivery basis for many Ocean City area residents and the soups and crab  cakes were also available in vendor spots at the Flying Feather Farm Market in Moorestown and the Burlington County Agricultural Center.

Now, with The Soup Bar opening up in a permanent location, Chef Eddie will be able to expand his offerings and dish out his spectacular culinary specialties to the Ocean City dining crowd on a continual basis. Some of the past offerings The Soup Bar has made available, and ones you may just see grace the new menu, include crab bisque, cioppino, lemon chicken orzo soup, chicken pot pie soup, and Chef Eddie’s highly applauded jumbo lump crab cakes.
